A spa the mountains built
Water, cedar and quiet — the three things Greene County has more of than anywhere else within three hours of New York City.
Built around a lake, not a strip mall
Catskill Spa & Massage opened on the lakeside grounds at 4858 NY-32 with one idea: a treatment should not end the moment you put your shoes back on.
So we built the bathhouse first — a cedar sauna, an infrared cabin, an open-air hot tub and a cold plunge, all a short walk from the water. Then came the treatment suites: draped, heated, sound-insulated rooms where a therapist can take an unhurried ninety minutes without a timer on the wall.
The result is a spa that works two ways. Come for an hour on your lunch break and leave loose. Or come at noon on a Saturday, take a massage, move through the heat and cold a few times, and drive home at dusk feeling like you had a weekend away.
Four promises
Licensed & Insured
Every therapist is licensed in New York State and works within their scope. This is a professional therapeutic practice, plainly and only.
Your Pressure, Your Hour
We ask before we start and check while we work. Firmer, lighter, skip that area entirely — all of it is fair, none of it is awkward.
Clean & Private
Fresh linens for every guest, single-use slippers, sanitized stones and cups, and doors that actually close.
No Upselling
Enhancements are offered once, at intake, and never again mid-treatment. Silence is part of what you paid for.
Five minutes from the bridge, a world from the highway
We are on Route 32 just south of the village of Catskill — a straight run from Exit 21 of the New York State Thruway, minutes from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, and an easy drive from Hudson, Athens, Coxsackie, Saugerties and Cairo.
The grounds are quiet: a private lake, a dock, evergreens, and a road where the loudest thing you will hear is a goose with opinions. In October the ridge above the property turns the colors that made this valley famous. In February the steam off the hot tub is the only thing moving.
- From New York City — about 2 hours 15 minutes up the Thruway.
- From Albany — about 40 minutes south.
- From Hudson or Athens — 10 to 20 minutes across the river.
- From Hunter or Windham — about 45 minutes down the mountain.
